fn keys gets on my nerves - imagine working in Photoshop and have to press fn then the F (F is for Function) key to get my assigned action, this kind of frustration only someone uses Photoshop can understand.
Just like when we sketch we have our sketch pad, our color palette and two pens in one hand - one to draw thin lines one for thick shadows {sometimes three if you feel the dare}, as we sketch we rapidly switch those two pens in between fingers so there’s no time lost in the process - now that’s traditional. Back on to the digital canvas, Photoshop/Illustratior - have keyboard shortcuts + actions, all these commands functions like holding two pens in one hand - to eliminate time lost - a 1 min here 2 min there can add up to an whole hour of time.
With that said, now everyone is on the same track of how important the Function Keys are?! So let’s go back and revisit a old blog post { Apple Keyboard Upgrade} - Ever since I bought this Keyboard I’ve been using the fn keys in Photoshop for assigned actions, well all that’s going to stop with one click of a mouse.
See screenshots above? In the Keyboard Settings, the F Key are by default checked off, that’s why when we press them on the keyboard we get sound control and dashboard {aka useless craps}. To get the F Keys back and finally stop the complain once for all - CHECK the box and viola you have your Function keys back {use fn then the F keys to bring back volume control + dashboard}
